Sky News Sets World Record

Congratulations to Sky News for setting a new Guinness World Record for most concurrent live web streams during their coverage of the U.K. General Election!

We’re so thrilled to have been a key technological partner to Sky throughout what they deemed “the most ambitious and wide-ranging results service available”.

LiveU supplied 138 units for the coverage – including comprehensive testing – to allow the broadcaster to bring what was predicted to be a very tight election to its viewers. LiveU units were managed and controlled by LiveU Central, the unified, cloud-based management platform, which enables fleets of units to be centrally controlled using geo-location capabilities alongside a host of other management options.

After a grueling and exciting election, we were proud to have had a part in Sky News’ revolutionary undertaking, simultaneously broadcasting from 150 locations to multiple online channels as well as the main television coverage. We are even prouder now following the tremendous success on election night and Sky News winning a world record. There are not many that can say that and it’s a true indication of the way that cellular bonding has changed live video acquisition forever.

You can see our full case study of the use of LiveU in Sky News’ election coverage here.
